This piece is a great example of my exploration of the micro vs macro concept. The map is the macro portion and the surface treatment (specifically on areas of water) represents micro. The pattern on the water is known as “water webbing”, this pattern appears when water is viewed on a microscopic level. This molecular formation is how the water works together to maintain its liquid status and I’ve adopted it as a symbol for community. This piece is an examination of community dependent on the waters of the gulf for food, recreation and industry
